Write, shoot, edit and deliver a short film in 48 hours flat: that’s the rule of the 48 Hour Film Project, an international competition held in dozens of cities around the world. In 2025, BOW Creative Studio took on the challenge with Momentum, and came away with awards.

48 hours, 26 people, €3,500
The competition’s principle is as simple as it is unforgiving. On Friday evening, you draw two themes, you pick one, and discover three mandatory elements: a line of dialogue (this year, “Hope keeps you alive”), a character (“Noé Musard, guitarist”) and an object (a tree leaf). From there, 48 hours to write, direct, shoot and edit a finished film, ready to screen in a cinema. A month later, all the films are shown on the big screen and the jury deliberates.
For Momentum, shot at the Villa Sainte-Camille in Théoule-sur-Mer, the studio mobilised a crew of 26 people, actors, technicians, post-production, on a tight budget of €3,500. A flat-out production where every decision counts, and where organisation makes the difference as much as creativity: exactly the reflexes you find later on shoots where time is short, from the same-day aftermovie to the corporate film shot in a single day.
Three awards in total
At the 48HFP Côte d’Azur prize list, Momentum came away with:
- the best screenplay award, won by Dylan Burrows, the film’s director and writer;
- the award for best use of the line of dialogue, a special mention to Luca Goudon, who worked the mandatory line into a song composed especially for the film, in a matter of hours.
The film then carried on: selected at the Tous en short festival, organised by the Cannes audiovisual BTS programme, where Luca Goudon won the best actor award for his performance.
Why a studio makes short films
